How Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici completely restructured Juventus FC and How Giuseppe Marotta could do it again with Inter Milan, a thread;
In 2006, Juventus got relegated because of their scandal called 'Calciopoli'. They spent the 2006/07 season playing in Serie B.
However, they spent only one season in Serie B and immediately returned to the top flight of Italian football. After their return to Serie A, they were struggling to join the title race. Also, they were without Champions League football.
The club desperately needed a turnover and in May 2010, Giuseppe Marotta came in as the CEO for sport and when you look now, this was the best decision Juventus ever made.
In May 2011, Antonio Conte was appointed by Marotta as Juve's head coach. Conte's coaching skills combined with Marotta's sense for business went on to make Juve one of the best teams in the world and this is how it happened...
In the second season in Serie A, Juventus managed to win the league title over AC Milan by just 4 points, whilst reaching the final of the Coppa Italia too, this would lead to a relentless domestic triumph in the coming decade.
In the 2012/2013 season, Juventus brought in;

🇬🇭 Kwadwo Asamoah - £16,200,000
🇫🇷 Paul Pogba - (FREE)
🇧🇷 Lucio - (FREE)
🇮🇹 Sebastian Giovinco - £9,000,000

Which elevated them to smash through the league and win by a comfortable 10 points.
Then in the 2013/2014 season, Juventus brought in;

🇦🇷 Carlos Tevez - £8,000,000
🇮🇹 Ciro Immobile - £2,480,000
🇪🇸 Fernando Llorente - (FREE)

And this season would produce a record-smashing 102 total points in the Serie A with Antonio Conte and his side losing just 6 games!
In the 2014/2015 season, Juventus brought in;

🇪🇸 Álvaro Morata - £18,000,000
🇫🇷 Patrice Evra - £1,000,000
🇮🇹 Daniele Rugani - £4,500,000

Conte would go on to win the Serie A & Coppa Italia titles but missing out on the CL after getting beaten in the final by a great Barca side.
However, 2015/2016 was time for a change at Juventus, with Antonio Conte leaving to go to Chelsea and Juventus appointing, another tactical genius, Massimiliano Allegri.

And in his first season he brought in;
🇦🇷 Paulo Dybala - £36,000,000
🇧🇷 Alex Sandro - £23,000,000
🇭🇷 Mario Mandzukic - £21,000,000
🇨🇴 Juan Cuadrado - £18,000,000
🇩🇪 Sami Khedira - (FREE)

An amazing transfer window, which helped Allegri pick up both the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles in his first season at the helm.
In the 2015/2016 season, Juventus brought in;

🇦🇷 Gonzalo Higuaín - £81,000,000
🇧🇦 Miralem Pjanic - £28,000,000
🇧🇷 Dani Alves - (FREE)

Which helped Allegri to win the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles again. Only losing 8 games and having a PPM (points per match) average of 2.22.
In the 2016/2017 season, Juventus brought in;

🇮🇹 Federico Bernardeschi - £36,000,000
🇫🇷 Blaise Matuidi - £22,000,000
🇵🇱 Wojciech Szczesny - £12,600,000
🇺🇾 Rodrigo Bentancur - £11,000,000
🇧🇷 Douglas Costa - £36,000,000
🇮🇹 Moise Kean - (ACADEMY)
Allegri once again won both domestic titles but unfortunately lost in the Champions League final, however he achieved his biggest points tally at the club yet with 95 points, losing just 6 games, and having a PPM average of 2.37, which is absolutely incredible!
In the 2017/2018 season, Juventus brought in;

🇵🇹 Cristiano Ronaldo - £108,000,000
🇵🇹 João Cancelo - £36,000,000
🇮🇹 Leonardo Bonucci - £31,000,000
🇩🇪 Emre Can - (FREE)
🇮🇹 Mattia Perin - £12,600,000
This was the only season Allegri didn’t win both domestic titles, however, he still managed to reach 90 points in the league and only losing one more game than he did in the previous season, however, this would be Allegri's last season in charge at Juventus.
It was time for some more change at the old lady, Giuseppe Marotta left as CEO of Sport at Juventus to start a new challenge alongside, Antonio Conte at Inter Milan and this is the point where Juventus began to decline...
Lastly, in the 2019/2020 season, Juventus brought in;

🇳🇱 Matthijs de Ligt - £77,000,000
🇧🇷 Danilo - £33,000,000
🇸🇪 Dejan Kulusevski - £31,000,000
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Aaron Ramsey - (FREE)
🇫🇷 Adrien Rabiot - (FREE)
🇮🇹 Gianluigi Buffon - (FREE)
Sarri did win the title with Juventus, however, he had the lowest PPM average of any manager in the past 8 years at the club. Getting beat in the Final of the Coppa Italia and being beaten in the round of 16 of the Champions League resulted in his sacking.
This club's management and sustainability are thanks to the work of Fabio Paratici and Giuseppe Marotta who transformed Juventus back into a powerhouse. However, with Marotta gone and Paratici looking to move away, we’ve seen a slight tweak in the structure at the old lady.
Is this the reason for the downfall in performance and the messy structure of Juventus right now? Juve is seeming to go for a more long-term strategy with Andrea Pirlo taking over a manager.
However, is this really the right move for Juventus?
Inter Milan are looking like dark horses for the Serie A title this year, now that Antonio Conte is back working with Giuseppe, things are looking better. We’ve already seen them come within a point of Juventus in the league last year and making it to the Europa League final too.
Progression is being made at Inter Milan and it’s being made fast. Do you think that Juventus can maintain being the European Powerhouse that they’ve been over the past decade, or will it start to fall apart there again?
Could we see Inter Milan have a similar resurrection to Juventus? Could this new decade bring the new Inter Milan, now that Giuseppe is back working with Antonio Conte? We will have to see later down the line.
