1/ Test your ideas
Use Twitter as a way to test your ideas. For David, this was a way to test if Write of Passage was a good idea. He broke down his idea into a tweetstorm to see if anyone would be interested. His thesis was correct.
2/ Curate your feed
Be careful with who you follow. Follow the best writer, not the NY Times. Follow up and coming people on Twitter. They are easier to connect with and provide the most potential.
3/ Write tweetstorms
This is where the followers come from. Tweetstorms are a great way to test ideas, get feedback, refine your ideas, and find what to focus on. David posted a tweetstorm about a golfer; it got over 1 million views (proof). He later wrote an essay about it.
4/ How to write tweetstorms
1. Who is it for?
2. How will they benefit?
Ex: If you want to write more. I have some ideas for you. Here are my favorite strategies to instantly improve your writing.
5/ Example tweetstorm intro (also, my introductory tweet)

6/ Types of tweetstorms - my thoughts
1. Traditional - Write and finish in one sitting
2. Idea - Begin and finish in a day or two with input from other people
3. Foundation - Never end. They demonstrate expertise. They are the things people know you for.
7/ Types of tweetstorms - David's thoughts
1. Emergent tweetstorm
2. Slowburn tweetstorms
8/ What are emergent tweetstorms?
Tweetstorms that develop over time. You post an idea, people respond, and the thread grows over time.
9/ What are slowburn tweetstorms?
Tweetstorms that develop over the course of months or years. They are centered on large topics and they grow over time. They help demonstrate expertise in certain areas. They are also a great way of doing research and organizing your ideas.
10/ Writing Style
There are four elements of writing style:
1. Explain - Wow people with how well you explain something
2. One idea - Focus on one thing
3. Actionable - Give someone something to work on
4. Simple - Use easy words
11/ Link to other tweetstorms
After you have a handful of tweetstorms, try to link them together. This will make you more discoverable and demonstrate that your ideas are constantly developing and building on one another.
12/ Have a consistent structure with your tweetstorms
For me, this is listing things using the format "0/, 1/, etc." This also enables you to search "1/," and all of your tweetstorms will pop up. This makes Twitter a glossary of your greatest ideas.
13/ Make friends
You can meet some amazing people on Twitter. When you find someone who Tweets things you like, shoot them a direct message.
14/ Direct message people
Direct messages are the Dark Matter of Twitter. It is the majority of Twitter. It's where you build relationships, develop ideas, and make friends.
15/ Just publish
Start writing your perspectives and publish them. There are a lot of people with a lot of capital and a few ideas. Share your ideas, build your reputation, and possibly your balance sheet. You never know who is watching.
16/Learn in public fanatically
Just keep publishing your ideas. Eventually, people will tell you which ideas are the good ones. Once you surface the good ideas, develop them, and give them to those who asked for them.
