Supporting trans folk is not just ethical, but also practical.
Throughout the West anti-queer people failed in their project against cis gays and lesbians back in the early 2010s. We can't understate the massive blow that marriage equality in virtually every western nation was.

The forces arrayed against us then didn't stop existing; they took a step back, licked their wounds, and reformulated their plans. Okay, so outright attacking the rights of cis queers isn't going to work. They're too normalized in society. What *can* we do however?
The LGBT rights movement in the early 2010s had many strengths, but among them are I believe the fact that at the best of times we're a unified front of different people with unique experiences and needs. Attack one of us, and you'll likely get attacked by others.
There being one big exception; Trans people. Trans folk have never had the same level of support from the rest of the community that, say, cis gays will. I've never thought that other LGBT people wouldn't have my back. They have, even when I was wrong or inelegant.
In addition, cis LGBT people tend to have higher visibility; we're a more normalized social presence when the only concept of a "trans person" in many cis straight's collective understanding is like. Buffalo Bill (Who isn't even trans, really).
I hate the popular conception of a cis gay man; white, effete, wealthy, hysterical. But at least there was and is an image of a gay man that's not literally a psychotic murderer.
So the "weak link" in our coalition are trans people; because of our own prejudices in the LGBT community, and the total dearth of representation and visibility of trans people in the public sphere. This gave the anti-LGBT forces an idea.
What if they could break apart our coalition? Go for the weakest and most marginalized population that will get the least support. Target them, and you can break apart our unified front, isolate us.
ou can see this with many GC people trying very strongly to separate the political alliances between the different members of the community; "Why should I, a cis lesbian, support gay males' right to parenthood knowing the propensity for sexual violence among men?"
This isn't accidental; this is part of the project. Isolate each group and you can pick them off one by one. Then you can destroy the rights of each one in turn.
We cannot allow this; protect your trans siblings; not just because they protected you all these years and it's time to pay them back, but also because the violence currently being inflicted upon them is being workshopped; designed to be turned against you the moment they're able
