As coaches, we do not hesitate to formulate plans to bring our players together. We take the reins & create situations and opportunities for unity to bloom. We are intentional about creating an environment where we lean on each other as family. This culture is intentionally built
The cultures within our families away from the court are intentionally built (or neglected to be built) as well. At home we are sometimes less likely to grab the wheel & steer our gatherings to ensure we are building our at home team chemistry as intentionally as we do our team’s
We need to coach our families in a similar style to how we build our teams. Intentionally create opportunities for positive chemistry to flourish, insist unity even when members try to opt out, set accountability for words of affirmation & respect. Do it on purpose.
This Thanksgiving, coach your family units to unity. Create a space where everyone eats together, include everyone, allow none of your flock to stray to the TV to disconnect. Unity > Comfort. Cram in nice & tight if you have to.
No phones at the table. Converse with each other. Sharing a meal as one unit is how humans have bonded for centuries. Prioritize this opportunity with limited distractions.
