In July 2019 I read a tweet from @Psychogirl77 about an organisation called @lendwithcare who make microloans to little businesses around the world.
I took a look at their website about found a man in Pakistan called Nadir Ali who has a sewing machine repair business.
So I decided to loan ÂŁ15 to help him.
These were the details.
And this is his biography. He repairs AND MAKES sewing machines.
Every month I get an email to tell me that he has made a payment on the loan. There are five supporters helping him financially.
All was well until March when, due to the pandemic @lendwithcare decided to suspend repayments so the people they support could deal with the problems caused by Covid.
So for three months Nadir Ali didn’t
Bear in mind, the repayment to my loan account was just 80p.
I contacted @lendwithcare to see if I could just donate the rest of my loan to Nadir. This wasn’t possible. If one person in an area gets a donation it is t fair on other businesses in that area who don’t. This makes sense.
