“A Cebu-based university.”

Can national news organizations stop writing about schools outside NCR as if they’re insignificant?

Cebu Institute of Medicine has been the Top 1 performing medical school in the PLE for YEARS. They’ve consistently achieved a 100% passing rate. https://twitter.com/inquirerdotnet/status/1331781479974662145
The tone of this just doesn’t sit right with me. Why is it written as if it’s so surprising that “a Cebu-based university” has topped the PLE?

If the national media actually paid attention to life outside NCR, they would know that CIM is not an underdog. CIM is a powerhouse.
The University of the Philippines-Manila & Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila aren’t referred to as “Manila-based universities” by the national media. They are granted the dignity of being called by name.

Why can’t this same respect be granted to schools in Visayas and Mindanao?
This isn’t an isolated case. Remember when USC law grads topped the 2016 Bar, & the national media seemed so surprised? There were even accusations of cheating.

Is it really so unfathomable that maybe, just maybe, life outside NCR isn’t as primitive as you think it is?
Just... IMAGINE HOW TIRED WE ARE.

It’s 2020. It’s long time that we do away with this NCR-centric thinking.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m ending this thread now because I have to go study so I have a chance of passing my quizzes. Dili ko brayt.
