@akarlin88 The Soviet Union's greatest blunders:

1. The creation of a totalitarian one-party regime
2. Forced collectivization
3. The Holodomor
4. Not telling the German Communists to ally with the SPD to block Hitler's rise to power in 1932-33
5. Annexing western Ukraine
1. It prevented any course correction.
2. It resulted in the loss of a lot of lives and prevented capitalism from taking root in the USSR.
3. It resulted in the loss of a lot of lives and in a lot of anti-Russian hohol sentiments.
4. It resulted in 27 million Soviet deaths in ...
... WWII.
5. It made it much harder for Russia to regather the lost pieces of the USSR after it collapsed due to western Ukraine pushing all of Ukraine in a much more nationalist direction. Without western Ukraine, it would be much easier for pro-Russians to win hohol elections.
