there's this weird anti-redemption culture that "woke" people fall into all the time. the idea that once you do something bad you're forever irredeemable - as if that isn't the exact kind of mindset we've been fighting against for...ever? or should have been?
got sucked into neon*zism and believed and did terrible things but put in the work to be better, to DO better? unforgivable. not good enough. doesn't matter that it's basically a cult you were sucked into: you're bad now and we don't want you here.
and if you're "fragile" enough to be pushed back into that circle because nobody on the outside will accept you, then you must not have really cared about being better after all!
but that's the thing: when you believe shit like that, right, the cult you're in tells you the whole world is against you. that they're out to get you. that you don't belong there, you belong HERE, with people who Get You.
imagine finally getting out of that world only to find that there isn't another for you. that now you're considered evil, and bad, and that there's nothing you can do about it.
idk man. i'm not saying "coddle people who have done bad things". i'm not even saying forgive them. i'm saying that the belief that nobody is redeemable is dangerous and it isn't going to help anyone. ive also forgotten where i was going with this.
tldr people deserve the chance to do better without being ostracized for it
oh and to be clear, THIS thread was about real people. not fictional characters lmao dkgndng
