The data in TrueCaller is crowd-sourced. This means that users who've downloaded the app, or use the site, have given TrueCaller access to their contacts. If just one person has a number saved against a name, that will be the result that is served when people search for it.

If the person who sent the threatening text did so using a burner sim (which is arguably what they would have done so as to avoid detection and possible repercussions), they (or anyone else) could have set up the contact in TrueCaller to link that number to Malema's name.

What I am trying to advise with this thread is that we all employ a healthy dose of skepticism as we navigate these discussions. Politicians are inclined to want to drive narratives that serve their own end. Hell, all humans are. We should keep this in mind at all times.

One thing we can ALL agree on, irrespective of political standing, is that NO ONE deserves to receive those kinds of hate-filled, racist and threatening messages. No one.
