Not too long ago, black folk had to walk to the back of the store/aisle, to locate that one solitary shelf that contained a few black hair/shaving products. Learned the hard way, just grabbing a Gillette, didn& #39;t work for black skin. 3/
Was in boarding school from 9/10yrs old. Left home for good at 16, so a lot of self-care was learned, on the fly. A kind older black stranger sat with me in a bookstore, and taught about Magic Shave Powder, & the right kind of aftershave for beard bumps on black skin

No, I couldn& #39;t learn from regular commercials or TV shows because those were dominated by, and directed towards people who didn& #39;t look like me. Sweet as the uncles on "Full House" or dudes on "Friends" were, following skincare advice like theirs fucked me up!
