I’m now watching The Last Jedi, and I hate everyone that defends this movie.
First, the plot sucks, despite being “original”. This is a saga in which nothing happens.

Yes, they don’t blow up a weapon in the third act. Instead they blow up the planet killer in the first. Wow, what a new concept.
Also, instead of putting the chase scene into the first act, they expand it into acts two and three. So original.

It’s like claiming a song that takes the same chord progression with verse and chorus but reverses them, is somehow a new and original take.
Now, let’s get to the main issue, Luke.

The point of the story is that Anakin saves the lasting memory of his true love, the external optimist, Padme. Luke is that symbol.
All the sudden because he has a nightmare, Luke, the eternal optimist, who believed there was good in a genocidal, child-killing, mass murder still had good in him, must now kill his teenage nephew?!?

He believed in Vader but a student that had a hormone change was too much?!?
In reality the movie isn’t an insult to Luke. Rather, it’s an insult to Padme.

Vader saved Luke because Luke was the lasting image of Padme, and it was the only way he knew to honor her.
This film isn’t clever or smart. It actually makes no logical sense. It simply has twists for the sake of twists and demands you accept them.

If M. Night had made this move, it would have been panned, but somehow it wasn’t because we’ve lost the ability to think critically.
