Do you drink milk? My dad milks the cows of the milk you drink. His current boss has been his boss since I was 5. Recently Washington State passed laws that make farm workers eligible for overtime for the first time. In 2020. He& #39;s worked 6 days a week since I was 5.
He& #39;s now being told that he has to do the same job in 7 hours (previously he had 8 hours) over 6 days. Meaning instead of overtime pay for 8 hours, he& #39;ll only 2. He now has to work harder, for less pay. Literally his hourly pay is less than I make as a barista @ SeattleU
But I& #39;ve also been unemployed since february, and my unemployment runs out at the end of December. This capitalist system fucking sucks. I hate it so much, but my dad has it worse.
He& #39;s worked for his boss for over 20 years (23+ years) actually. He gets 1 week of vacation after all this time. What& #39;s the point of labor laws of bosses can just work around them?
Why am I socialist? Because working people make all the wealth and get none of the fucking benefit. Our lives have never been easy. But are we the enemy? NO. It& #39;s the fucking 1%
