I realized that time zone names outside the US can be either confusing or political. (a thread)
I never use “Philippine Standard Time” (PST) coz the abbreviation can be confused as “Pacific Standard Time”. So I use “Singapore Time”. But then again, Singapore isn’t the largest country in the GMT +8 Time Zone. China is. (+)
The problem is, “China Standard Time” abbreviated can be also confused as “Central Standard Time”. So I don’t want to use CST as well. I love Taiwan as well, but they call it “National Standard Time”. (+)
So I have to think of other places that use the same time zone as mine. Definitely not Perth. Definitely not one place in Russia that isn’t Vladivostok. (+)
Which makes me go back to my preferred GMT+8 Time Zone being SGT — Singapore Time. (+)
