So many people do not truly understand the magnitude of Diego Maradona. Today we lost the most talented played to ever live; Ronaldo is a harder worker, Messi had a longer and more consistent career, Pele won more trophies. No one will ever compare to what Diego Maradona

represented. Maradona grew up in extreme poverty; he did not get signed by an academy with all of his living expenses paid as a 12 year old. Maradona grinded his whole life. He moved around Argentina, moving to Barcelona briefly, and finding his true home in Naples. Maradona on

his day was indisputably the best player of all time. He was a GOD in Naples and Argentina. Argentina was at war with England; things were not going well for them to say the least. Maradona’s average Argentina side matches up against England. With the whole nation on his side,

Maradona scored the greatest goal in world cup history, and also the hand of God. They ended up beating England in the midst of a war, ultimately becoming world champions as well. Maradona left one of the worlds largest clubs to join Napoli. Naples is a historically impoverished

and mistreated city due to the North vs South mentality in Italy. Napoli was near relegation a few years before he arrived, and only a few seasons later, they won 2 Scudetti. Serie A was by far the hardest competition in the world at the time, and he literally single-handedly

carried a team from relegation, to champions of Italy. Maradona was a GOD in naples who had been belittled and discriminated against by the northerners for centuries. Napoli is one of a handful of clubs south of rome to ever win the scudetto. Maradona never dove. At that time,

the game was completely different. it allowed for true competition (lots of fouls that go uncalled, lots of physicality). Maradona would get put on the ground 100 times a game with almost no punishment for the defenders. instead of sitting and comparing like modern footballers,

he would get up and score a brace in the next three minutes (breaking challenges in the process). while he may not have had the most consistent and enduring career, no one can EVER touch peak Maradona. this is coming from a Juventus fan... i have no reason to say this.
