I feel like a huge fraction of the country has gone nuts about COVID (and I& #39;m not just talking about Trumpists).
Our family isn& #39;t going anywhere for Thanksgiving or Christmas because COVID is out of control, and the disease is deadly. That& #39;s the only sane response, barring family emergencies.
Here& #39;s an example of such lunacy: Politicians doing tone deaf things in direct contradiction of public health guidance that their own administrations have put forth. https://twitter.com/JamesSurowiecki/status/1331758234953261059?s=20">https://twitter.com/JamesSuro...
The Denver Mayor apparently said he saw it "as a choice between flying there or family flying to Colorado." NO. The choice is to stay home or to endanger public safety by traveling.
Gavin Newsom& #39;s now-infamous excursion to the French Laundry was another troubling example. The rules need to apply to everybody!
Here& #39;s another: We have more than a handful of Ivy-league educated friends who are traveling for Thanksgiving to be with others outside of their family units. I find this hard to fathom. Don& #39;t they understand what& #39;s happening out there?
We& #39;re just in the beginning of a third wave of COVID in the US, and if anything, the number of infections are accelerating. How can anyone think about traveling in this situation? #trends_dailytrendscases">https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/ #trends_dailytrendscases">https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-dat...
