I went to a thrift store this week and bought a load of cds. I never really stopped buying cds but genrally only used ones as it& #39;s a fairly low risk outlay playing the roulette of buying something you don& #39;t really know or haven& #39;t heard..
Anyway one of this weeks pickups was a record by the band "And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.." who I own one record by already. As I slid it in the cd player in my car this feeling washed over me that I had forgotten about.
I remembered the euphoria associated with playing a new record in a phsycial sense. Press Play and see what comes out in the order it was intended to play, designed by the designers of that sound. Since consuming single tracks digitally I& #39;d forgotten that feeling.
Anyway this is a love letter of sorts to the cd. I used to buy 5 every week with my paycheck when I was younger and they were usually $25-50 each. Felt that same euphoria every drive home from work on a Friday and I& #39;d forgotten about it. I missed that.
My next adventure involves putting a lounge chair next to my AV setup with some headphones and a blindfold. Phone off. Listen through with no skips. It& #39;s harder than you think. I was never remotely A.D.D but digital media consumption has infected us with it https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤔" title="Denkendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Denkendes Gesicht">
