i wouldnt even need to have a nonsense counter if we weren't inadvisably holding in-person services in the middle of the largest covid spike this year but u know. everyone gets their own labeled prayerbook for all the good it'll do
ive been talking abt this on priv a lot but im tired enough i'll say it on main too. it blows chunks that work decided to just give up and hold services instead of bending halacha to our needs like every other synagogue on earth right now
the torah says that when people's lives are at stake the rules are fake. it literally says that. it says you can break shabbat to save a life. why is this not the clause we are using as the ultimate shield right now
"well we don't use electronics on shabbat at our house, how would we attend virtual services?" you would suck it the fuck up and leave the stream on overnight, thats how
like look i can respect people's commitment to tradition, that's cool and they're doing what's meaningful for them, but there comes a certain point where you have to ask yourself whether coming to in person services is worth risking the lives of your community
and if you answered yes to that question, if it is worth it to you for the "spiritual fulfillment" or whatever, here's another one: why? why, when god says that saving a life is more important than anything else, did you say "not to me, though" ?
anyway this thread got away from me but. im tired. you're tired. wear a mask. stay home, don't go to services for the love of god
