Just saw someone say period poverty doesn’t exist and schools help out.

I remember when I first started my period I had nothing with me, I went to the nurses office. The same one who gave out condoms to all the year 8’s during sex ed and they refused to give me anything.
There words “you are meant to provide your own” I remember crying and I called my mum to take me home. It was my first period. I am lucky I was from a supportive family who could afford products. Imagine if your parents had to choose between food and tampons?
I would like to address that the nurses office had some good eggs but mostly bad ones. I had a friend who broke her leg and they put paper towels on it and didn’t call an ambulance for over three hours because they thought she was overreacting.
Key points of this thread:
•period poverty is real
•schools are shit
•blue paper towels don’t heal broken legs
