Years ago, I was buying sweet potatoes in the grocery store and a woman standing selecting produce a couple feet away said "too big." I honestly wasn& #39;t sure she was talking to me, selected another (large) sweet potato, and she repeated herself...
...explaining, "The smaller ones are sweeter." This lovely woman didn& #39;t have to do that. She didn& #39;t have to take the time to save my casserole, but she did, and I& #39;ve been buying the smallest sweet potatoes ever since.
So to the lovely Black woman in Meijer ten-ish years ago who educated me on sweet potatoes? Thank you, ma& #39;am. I appreciate that you took the time. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.

PS: I thanked her then, too. But every time I make sweet potato casserole, I remember her and her kindness.
