To my great frustration, reporting on Flynn's crimes and pardon inevitably leaves out how, alongside his retracted guilty plea about lying to the FBI, he admitted to being an unregistered agent for Turkey. What no one seems to care about anymore is that Flynn didn't just forget to file paperwork. He hid how he was working for Erdogan to remove, possibly by kidnapping, a permanent US resident (Fetullah Gulen) based on an evidence-free claim that he was behind the 2015 coup attempt.
The belated FARA filing of the "Flynn Intel Group," suggests that Flynn was not merely lobbying for Turkey, but essentially paid to spy on Gulen. However, Flynn, didn't actually do much, so arguably he was defrauding his client while committing a felony.

Flynn's secret work for Turkey, which occurred while he was getting US intel briefings, was first reported in Nov 2016, and was then in the Wall Street Journal. Still Trump made him NSA.
