Seth Rich was a DNC staffer murdered in the streets of Washington D.C. in 2016, shortly after the DNC had its emails obtained by Wikileaks.
No suspect was ever found for the murder, and the D.C. police blamed it on a "botched robbery", despite nothing being stolen from Rich.

At onset, there was suspicion Seth Rich was the source of the DNC leaks. Rich was an avid Bernie supporter, and the DNC had rigged its primaries to ensure Bernie had no chance of winning.
The DNC blamed the leaks on "Russia", and the intelligence community backed this narrative.

This is where Fox News comes in. On May 16, 2017 Fox ran a story reporting how a private investigator (Rod Wheeler) had found the following in his Rich murder investigation:
1 - Rich had contact with Wikileaks.
2 - Someone in the DC police was blocking further investigation.

After this story was released, the mainstream media immediately sprang into action - not to investigate the the matter, but to denounce all of it as conspiracy theory.

Rod Wheeler, the investigator behind the story, quickly recanted his statements (his life was most likely threatened). He instead gave a bizarre statement blaming Fox News for what he said - though this recantation made no sense.

Following Wheeler's betrayal, Fox News retracted the story on May 23rd. The mainstream media, DNC, and intelligence community had ensured that the Russia narrative would be the source of the DNC leaks, not Rich.

Today, Fox News settling this suit with Rich's parents over the 2017 story shows their leadership has lost any will to challenge the powers that be.
