It can be dangerous to go down the route of asking everyone which specific brand/drug worked best for them, and making decisions informed solely by this.
Equally, if someone tells you 'omg this drug messed me up it's so awful you must never take it', then that's unhelpful advice that could stop you trying a potentially really useful treatment.
The most common medication that would be prescribed for OCD with the strongest evidence base is a class of antidepressant called Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs for short).
In some cases, a different type of antidepressant, or an additional antipsychotic, may be prescribed.
