A thread on “systemic racism”:

Clearly, we see that racism was embedded in law, policy, and culture in days past (slavery & Jim Crow). Sin can be “systemic,” but CRT argues that racism is present now in law, policy, and culture now as it was in days past.
This is based in Marxist & later postmodernist Critical Theory, which reads oppression not merely in formal but informal terms. “Systemic racism” is everywhere—concretely but also invisibly (see Foucault’s concept of “biopower” per Pluckrose & Lindsay).
This is why, while the term SR can describe past days, we must recognize that usage of SR is used by CRT to make a massive claim about America/the West today. It is a term anchored in past reality that is being used by CRT to describe present reality.
