Thank you for this. I was so pissed off the moment I saw comments on how toxic Type is for being jealous and possessive of Tharn, and that he didn't call himself "gay".
1. Being in a new relationship, jealousy and possessiveness can't be avoided. https://twitter.com/ramblingsofafan/status/1331596400610652161
2. Type wasn't toxic for confronting Tharn, I mean some people don't even bother asking their partners about their shadiness and just assume the worst. Type, on the other hand, does his best to communicate to Tharn what he thinks.
And let's remember that Type isn't someone that easily acknowledges what he feels. He's emotionally constipated most of the time, so for him to try and communicate what he feels is a huge improvement on his character.
he was also called toxic for not thinking about Tharn's feelings. W/c is wrong. Everything that Type did when they got together, he had already considered Tharn's feelings before doing it.
He knew Tharn would be upset if he didn't acknowledge their relationship,
So he made the decision to tell one of the most important people in his life, Techno.
He knew that Tharn would also be upset about not revealing their relationship, in the long run, so he asked Tharn about it to already start the conversation and avoid misunderstandings.
He made sure to reassure Tharn that he would never look at a man the same way that he does to Tharn.

idk if its just me but the critics of Type's character doesn't really see this.
2. Type not acknowledging or labelling himself as gay, IS VALID. Not everyone's sexuality should be labelled or boxed in as a stereotype.
As Type has said, again and again, Tharn is the only man he wants to love and have sex with. And it should've just ended at that.
He was homophobic before, and at that time he was still struggling with accepting his feelings for Tharn, so it would make sense that he doesn't want to label himself as anything yet.
Him saying that he only wants Tharn should be enough as an explanation on where he stands. He's basically saying that he doesn't need a label. (This also stems from his fear of hurting the ones he loves because of his sexuality, so he doesn't label himself as gay)
Lastly, I'm so over some BL fans looking at characters this way. The journey of Type accepting his feelings for another man is realistic. People don't just accept their sexuality, after years of being homophobic, overnight.
They struggle and make dumb decisions, and will lash out on their journey to accepting themselves.
Characters, in order to fulfill their character arc, must have flaws, imperfections, and set-backs--but that doesn't mean that they are toxic (I could site the real toxic BL characters if yall want). They represent real struggle that's why we often get so invested in them.
whew thats a long rant.
