A thread to share about two iconic American families, who have served the nation for generations and how two sons found each other on Twitter.
@McCainJack I just found out what @RooseveltTed , a member one of the finest American legacies in our national story, does for a living, and I am quite honestly blown away by how perfectly it fits his (ostensible, as I don’t know him personally) family ethos and history.
"well done sir"

I’m touched by your kind words, particularly given the standard you and your family have set for service.

I sincerely appreciate that. I always make the joke that it’s not necessarily service, my family just isn’t very creative. I spent my childhood hearing my dad tell stories about your family and legacy, and how much he admired it. Very glad to know you, it’s an honor.

@RooseveltTed You may not know but your dad would occasionally call my father, who was a Navy SEAL around the time your dad was in Vietnam, out of the blue and they’d just shoot the breeze about politics, military, whatever.
@RooseveltTed My father loved those calls. Lots of respect on both sides.
