Indian cinema needs a genre of festival movies.
The way in which Hollywood cashes in on the 'Christmas spirit' should offer some clues.
We have a much longer and much more vibrant festival season, but very few feel-good movies centered around those themes.
Fill that gap.
And Indian kids end up being so excited about Christmas and Halloween n whatever else, because their own festivals are mostly only critiqued in popular culture.
While these other (even alien) festivals are marketed as magical and fun. Not very difficult to shift the narrative.
I did not mean movies releasing on festivals. That happens in every single state.
I meant movies centered on the theme of festivals. That is a genre by itself.
For instance, I don't remember a single Diwali focused movie. https://twitter.com/stackcook/status/1331602717215662089?s=19

This is true. TV serials still do focus on festivals.
@smyltr had written a great thread about how Ekta Kapoor popularized some festivals through her serials. Was quite interesting.
