Reflections on #SR20 just announced:

1) Big win for @danny__kruger and all of us that have campaigned for infrastructure investment to be as broad as possible. £4bn Levelling Up Fund is a huge opportunity. #Socent need to mobilise locally to make sure funds deliver real change.
2) The UK Shared Prosperity Fund looks like a continuation of existing approach although slightly broader in remit. This could be good or bad, but we'll see when the framework is consulted on next year. We must make sure that focus of UKSPF is not too diluted.
3) This is a one-review and really feels like that. A lot of big decisions are being deferred into 2021, understandably, and you get the sense that this was as generous as it is going to get. The question is, will it be enough to really deliver the Government's agenda?
4) My view is that it isn't as money isn't the only problem. We need reform and a vision for how to lift places up. The Levelling Up Fund will provide some useful projects, but we need public service reform, tax reform, business reform etc. to get the job done.
