In good conscience I cannot open God’s Word and preach a pro-black agenda. Eisegesis isn’t necessary to communicate that injustice is wrong and racism is real. I don’t have to be creatively misleading when I explain from the Scripture that as a young(er)large black man I am just
as much of an image bearer as an old white woman.

Likewise I’m not some 2nd class Christian because I grew up in the black church and have an unapologetic appreciation for the black church, black preaching and black singing. Neither am I sellout because I once pastored an all
white fundamentalist church, now pastoring a “mixed church” and attend a seminary that is, in many ways consumed with whiteness. In many ways I don’t fit in anywhere. I’ve read John MacArthur and James Cone. They’ve both been right at times and other times they’ve been extremely
wrong. I have their books in my library but to be honest, neither of them are heavy influencers on me nor the ministry that has been entrusted to me. I don’t get caught up in every wind and doctrine and what I consider secondary doctrines aren’t worth debating. My conviction is
that God’s Word is real and without error. It’s dangerous to cherry-pick the Scripture in order to impose your own agenda, desires and feelings. It’s harmful to force-fit the Scripture into your political ideology. The Scripture is abused when it’s understood and communicated
through the lenses of your current conditions and flawed theological circumference.

Necessity has been lain upon me and I will not neglect it... Strangely enough, what I’ve shared is just both too conservative and progressive.
