And here are some people whose work you should definitely follow and learn more about. It was great to give shout outs to the amazing @BlondeHistorian and @BlindDad_Uk from whom I have learnt lots from and continue to do so.
Also, do follow the wonderful work by @extantltd Integrating accessibility creatively to their productions and fostering inclusion.
Also, the wonderful work by @thatLouiseFryer and Pablo Romero-Fresco on integrated access is a must. I consider them to be 2 of the most influential academics in the field and have learnt a lot from reading their work.
Also, why not follow @YorkDisability to find out more about the events taking place? Want to learn more about accessibility, you can follow @blindandb0ujee who runs auditing, consulting and training services @incllewsion
And there's, of course, our very own @TFTI_UoY @Anna_bd who does wonderful research in the field and has done an outstanding job integrating accessibility teaching to the IM degree!
In terms of reading a good starting point is 'Understanding Disability' by Michael Oliver, lots of important discussions on the Social Model of Disability. I also really love 'More than Meets the Eye' by Georgina Kleege.
Two wonderful books on the practical side are @thatLouiseFryer's 'An Introduction to Audio Description: A practical guide' and Pablo Romero-Fresco's 'Accessible Filmmaking'. And there's lots and lots more! 😊
There's so many more people whose work is incredibly important to the field that I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of them so feel free to add to this thread. I would also recommend looking into the work by @BenGShirley @thepengineer @Donagh_Sarah @Bad_Ass_Blindy @HarshaBala_
If you'd like to learn more about #EnhancingAD do feel free to get in touch, here's a link to the BBC Sounds Amazing talk from a few weeks ago if you'd like to learn more about the project https://www.bbc.co.uk/academy/en/articles/art20201016082509440
