QUEER THREAD

Hello to all my LGBTQIA+ followers, and anyone else that might read this.

I don't know about you, but i've been missing more than ever this year queer spaces, you know the refreshing stench of a drag bar, the sight of two impressively made up men kissing at Pride
Being around more people like me, seeing women holding hands, having discussions around issues that affect us, having conversations about.. anything, knowing that you aren't going to misgendered, mistreated, or misunderstood.

Here are some things that I have been doing to help,
1. I have been listening to LGBT creators Podcasts, a few I love @TheHooveringPod, @GuiltFemPod, and more recently, out with @suziruffell - the last one, is quite amazing, honestly - give it a shot.

2. I have followed a lot more LGBT activists and news sources on my socials
3. I receive an LGBT daily briefing email from LGBT Nation (a San francisco based website/news source) https://www.lgbtqnation.com/  it's pretty easy to skim past the rubbish news and find some great stuff
4. I've watched almost all of the LGBT films available on Netflix/Sky Cinema, a few faves that are quite heavy but beautiful "Miseducation of Cameron Post", "Boy Erased"

5. I have taken to obsessively researching the 1980's LGBT scene, primarily the Aids Crisis - this is tough
but I have found it important that I know about the history of my community.

6. I have engaged with a Queer Bible study group - which for an LGBT Christian has really REALLY helped me over the past 10 weeks.
7. Not for everyone, but I also binge read Lesfic, my favourite author is @ENichols_Author - one golden summer was a very lovely read. It's not often you get love stories about lesbians.
8. I have re-watched almost all of The L Word and Generation Q, as well as listening to @ThePantsPod which if you are of the Woman LGBT variety and haven't - it's really funny and legit feels like i'm friends with Shane and Alice now.
9. I've taken some time to think about my story, even write bits of it down. I have a rightful place in this world and I am appreciative of that and appreciative that 12 year old me didn't think I'd live to see the amazing person I have become.
10. I have reached out to friends when I've been finding things tough, I (and I know not everyone does) have a best friend that is also Gay, am in a gorgey relationship, and I've been able to discuss with them when I've felt my lack of queer spaces. If you need an LGBT friend,
I've said this before and I'll say it again - please feel free to reach out to me, you know my likes from above, so if you wanna chat, here I am.
