I was super excited for our first “push button” phone, circa mid 80s. My parents were very slow in adapting to new technology and I hated when my friends asked to use our phone and it was a rotary phone. Anyway, the first push button phone in our house looked like this:
I had the best handwriting in the family so instead of my mom (or my dad’s secretary) typing the label for the phone, I was chosen to write in our number on the little piece of paper. 😂😂😂😂😭
When we finally got our own extension (not separate phone line, mind you) upstairs, we got one of these with super long wires and cords. We weren’t allowed to lay in bed during phone calls lol. But we loved this trimline phone. Ours was white.
They also had a phone store at the mall. For several Christmases, I asked for – and didn’t receive – various novelty phones like these:
