We urgently need more non-profit journals, run by academics or academic societies, where people can submit work...
It's the people behind the journals (editors, reviewers), who bring prestige, so I'm hopeful that these crazy prices may accelerate alternative publication models
It’s crazy but I feel guilty when I submit or review a research paper - we're feeding the beast.

We’re stuck in a catch-22: support open access but pay crazy fees (or promote the insane growth of MDPI) or have your (publicly funded) work sit behind a pay-wall…
