OTD At half past nine on the 25th of November 2015 Chris Martin died. It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since this remarkable man was in our lives. A personal thread...
SIX DAYS before he died we got married. A doctor had warned us time was running out. I bolted out of the hospital room and hurried to Camden council to get the necessary paperwork. We were married a couple of hours later. I wore a jumper. Fancy weddings are overrated.
THREE DAYS before he died he was made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. This medal was delivered to him at UCH by the Queen’s Private Secretary.
AT NOON on the day Chris died Prime Minister David Cameron paid tribute to his ‘Bernard’. Even now civil servants and politicians tell me how much they miss him. ‘He was the civil servant we all aspired to be’ one told me recently. This is the candle that burned for days in No10.
FRIENDSHIP I made some wonderful friends through Chris. None more special than @CScottFCDO #classywivesclub
