Sooner or later we are going to have to acknowledge the elephant in the room with regards to Finland's inability to attract and retain foreign talent. The arguments that "Finland is the best country" aren't sticking because in many respects, it's not. It's not even close.
Nobody makes reports for things like variety and choice of produce in supermarkets, choice of online retailers. Delivery costs from Amazon. Everybody ignores that it's virtually impossible to find anything to do after work on a rainy November Tuesday.
Rent costs are high and taxes are high, lunch costs the same as a meal in a fancy restaurant in France. Finding apartments and jobs is stacked heavily against non-finns, so even if you are relocated here your partner will find it impossible to work.
Making friends is tougher here than anywhere I've ever lived (I've lived and worked in 4 countries).

You need to be mentally tough to survive here, because you keep on hearing that these things are not problems. But they actually matter a lot to foreigners.
"The darkness and cold is not a bug, it's a feature."

Cool.
Ranting because I'm getting a bit tired of the lack of acknowledgement of the actual problems, and until that happens we can't have solutions.
