Latest stats on covid hospital admissions across England present a mixed picture. The North and Midlands are definitely falling. But London and the South East are rising and the East of England and South West are in a plateau.
It's obviously good that the North East and Yorkshire, North West, and Midlands are coming down but it's not really translating through to bed occupancy. Covid patients stay in hospital for a while before they either recover to discharge or they sadly succumb.
This is a problem not just for the North but also the South West, which has more covid patients in now than it did in the first wave. Spare a thought therefore for the staff who are working at least twice as hard as the spring, with more covid patients AND all the non-covid work.
