hii !!

might get my swiftie card revoked for this but the discourse i am seeing on twitter is fucking disheartening.

please stop using race as a tool to win fanwars and for petty likes and retweets (it makes me sick that i even have to say this)

would you be this upset about abel if taylor took his spot? if we are being honest, his album is one of the few that stood a chance (and even deserved to win) against folklore.
the academy loves taylor. she’s a 10 time grammy winning artist. that’s proof enough of how adored she is !!
one of the major reasons why she keeps winning is because her white privilege helps her talent get recognised. the same courtesy is almost never extended to BIPOC folk.
let’s not forget that the academy loves racism too.

BlPOC artists are equally as talented (hell even more) However, their hard work, skill, dedication and art is hardly ever recognised and is mostly ignored & that’s NOT because they aren’t talented but because they are BIPOC.
whether you would like to stay in denial about this or not: this is a systemic issue that runs deeper than insignificant stan twitter fights over who deserves to be awarded by a racist institution (and yes the Scammys are just that)
this isn’t the first time a Black artist has been colossally snubbed at the Grammys. Jimi Hendrix, Diana Ross and Nicki Minaj have never once won a Grammy either. read that again. never once.
I know for sure you guys will hate me for this one but please hear me out. There have been moments where U2 and MAROON FUCKING 5 (????) have won over K*nye. And as much as I hate him, I can’t ignore the fact those wins were racist.
Mariah’s We Belong Together lost to U2 in 2006. U2 also has more Grammys than Prince and Michael Jackson COMBINED.
Kendrick Lamar was also snubbed for Album of The Year the same year Taylor won that category.

I love Taylor to bits and pieces and her music is one of the sole reasons why I am not crushed and broken every day moment of my life. At the same time—
—a white woman’s commercial success being held in greater esteem than a Black artist’s musical testimony to institutionalised racism & how deeply it affects Black kids growing up in violence-struck neighbourhoods, is unsettling to me.
All of you know how much I love Taylor and those of you who know me irl know I don’t shut up about this woman and how deeply her music has impacted my life and how much hope she gives me. Seriously though guys, the Scammys’ racism is so much bigger than Taylor—
It is bigger and more vicious than being used as a pawn to win stan wars and it most certainly has gone on for far too fucking long which is why I will blocking anyone who tone-polices BIPOC people today even if they do it in the name of 'defending' taylor.
Unless you are a BIPOC artist yourself, i quite frankly don’t care about your opinion on this thread so please do not bother filling the replies with unnecessarily hateful and racist things. I won’t be reading them, this thread will be muted from the beginning.
Even though I am glad to see more people talk about Beautiful Ghosts (my favourite Taylor song) and of Folklore, I still won’t be supporting the Scammys in the least and I hope you have it in you to do the same.
Let’s not hype up an institution that gets its prestige solely from excluding diverse voices, narratives and stories.

That being said, I will now go cry about my mental instability while watching taylor’s film! See ya!
