Preparing food packets and tea for distribution today evening for #CycloneNivar relief work on the streets of Chennai. Doing this in collab and under guidance. So all safe.

Anticipated this need during north east monsoon and cyclone season in Chennai and kept some funds ready. That is coming in handy for preparing relief food

Will be going out at tea time for food and tea distribution in affected areas

Working with Suresh Tea Anna to distribute hot ginger tea to support staff and other homeless people in and near Ripon/Central area. #CycloneNivar

Getting ready with food packets, bread and bun

I thought Food distribution during the Shramik Trains phase was hard. Now, on top of the corona virus, we have a cyclone, flooded streets and falling trees to worry about as well :(

Thanks to contributions, I placed orders for 1500+ sweet bun packets, full loaf bread, chapati packets and ginger tea for distribution today. Thank you all! Out to ensure all orders are delivered on time. Commendable collaborative work by @chennaipolice_ @chennaicorp & TN Govt

Water has receded in many places in Alandur / Adambakkam today

As I ride around, coordinating distributing food relief, I will share what I see around the city from POV of a ordinary citizen:

1. Adambakkam Karuneegar Subway is clear but water flowing via steps I see Highways staff here trying to do something #CycloneNivar

As I stop on the bridge over River Adyar at Jafferkhanpet, one can see the efforts put in by @chennaicorp & TN govt last 5 years have saved lives. Can you see the real-time monitoring system? The blue pole CCTV & the white alert box, the concrete strengthened bunds #CycloneNivar

CCTV and other monitoring system to ensure water level rise is monitored in River Adyar. Hope this is maintained well to prevent future disasters @chennaicorp #CycloneNivar

Lots of branches of fallen trees / just branches that fell off due to #CycloneNivar have been hauled to the @SumeetUrbaser trash bins. They are going to be having a tough time clearing them all :/
