I would like convalescent plasma advocates who dismiss every negative trial because “it was given too late” to tell me the latest they’ve ever given plasma to a COVID patient.

It may very well only work early. But advocates have been happy to transfuse for advanced patients.
I want a day after onset of symptoms. Tell me how many days after onset plasma is contraindicated and you wouldn’t offer it. If we won’t commit to that, then these trials have value. They’re testing real practice.
Obviously RECOVERY is going to give us a real answer about whether convalescent plasma works. It’s testing hospitalized patients, so by definition “late.”

If plasma works, the “you have to give it early” people will change their tune. That rule is only true for negative trials.
On the left is RECOVERY median time to treatment with Dex. On the right is the small plasma RCT advocates complain was given too late. I don't know if things have changed, but if plasma works in RECOVERY with the same time frame, should we expect any reflection on the discourse?
