we need more quiet, domestic (and literary) fantasy books and short stories. Like The Forgotten Beasts of Eld, Little, Big, The Cosmology of the Wider World, Winter Rose/Solstice Wood, The Wood Wife, Wind in the Willows, Tombs of Atuan, Tehanu, The Other Wind, etc
eg, less swords and more dealing with the human dynamics of living in a fantasy setting or portal world
I& #39;ve noticed other people saying the same thing lately, and I hope it gains traction. To me, this sort of thing is far more interesting that the usual adventures
Oh! And I guess Valente& #39;s older fantasy& #39;s definately fall into the mold as well! Like The Labyrinth, and Crass Cutting Sword, and other stuff in Myths of Origin
