here is a thread on how to make ur acc more lgbtq+ friendly !!
PUT PRONOUNS IN YOUR BIO

trans people are often ridiculed and made fun of for having "different pronouns"

by putting pronouns in your bio u help in normalizing it. and its useful for people to know how to refer to u !!
put pronouns in your bio and not ur location so screen readers can read them !! do not use fonts and type ur pronouns out like so:

he/him
she/her

if you have multiple pronouns you can use

he/she/they

and so on !!
if someone has multiple pronouns be sure to switch them up whenever referring to them like so:

"ive been moots with ---- for a while now they're funny, and she is really close to me i love seeing him on the timeline"
if someone has something like (she/her if we're close) on their bio check their carrds !!

normally they'd have the people they regard as close to them listed so u know if u can use those pronouns or not
if u do not know someone's pronouns use they/them

however only use this when someone's pronouns are not visible !!

if they have the orange diamond (🔶🔸) it means they cant keep their pronouns visible because it can put them in danger
also there are neopronouns, they have a wide variety from themes, animals and even characters from fiction !!

an example of a neopronoun would be:

fae/faer/faerself and meow/meows/meowself
do not ask someone why they chose their pronouns !! pronouns and neopronouns can bring comfort and validation to someone,

some people also are not comfy w certain pronouns because its been used to invalidate them !!

pronouns =/= gender
if someone has neopronouns use them as u would other pronouns !! DO NOT USE THEM AS NICKNAMES

do not call someone "sprout" or "bun" if they use sprout/bun pronouns

NEOPRONOUNS ARE PRONOUNS NOT NICKNAMES !!
anyone can use neopronouns, as long as u identify w them and dont use them for aesthetic purposes
DO NOT RECLAIM SLURS OF COMMUNITIES U R NOT A PART OF

i see this a lot even in the lgbt community . . . just avoid using slurs in general, also know that not everyone is comfy w the slurs they can reclaim
which is also why it is important for someone to put (comfy w ----) in their bio so people can refer to them w those terms !!

if someone has "queer" or "enby" in their bio it means they are comfy w the term and also use them as a label
any gender that experiences attraction to men, women and nonbinary people cannot use the d slur or the f slur !!

those are meant to attack a lack of attraction to the opposite sex

just avoid slurs in general if you're unsure of what community can reclaim them
if u censor a slur ur still saying it !!
LGBTS CALLING IDOLS GAY IS NOT MISGENDERING AND ISNT US OUTING THEM

this is called "projecting" wherein through projecting on to the people who provide you comfort (idols, fictional character etc)

u provide comfort and validation knowing ur faves believe that u r valid !!
outing someone who isnt ready is a terrifying experience, its someone's choice whether they r comfortable w being open about their sexuality or not !!
KNOW THAT UNLABELED PEOPLE ARE VALID !!

there are a lot of people who identify as "unlabeled" for a number of reasons

some are unsure of what to identify as while others simply do not want to restrict themselves onto one label
KNOW THAT HETEROPHOBIA DOES NOT EXIST

if u identify as straight u cannot have ur rights taken away from u because someone on stan twt said they're heterophobic . . . however homophobia CAN take away the rights we try our best to fight for
also know that if we do make heterophobic jokes we dont immediately mean you . . . unless u take offense and are actually homophobic then we DO refer to you when we make heterophobic jokes
end of thread, this will be pinned for anyone to reference !!
