We know our pets love us unconditionally, but sometimes I have to remind myself what “unconditional love” means in the context of animals to understand it full.

1. Gabby’s love for me doesn’t change if I eat too many carbs, order too much take out and gain weight.

2. Gabby’s love for me doesn’t change based on my paycheck. Making more money or less money doesn’t change how she feels about me. It might affect my ability to care for her...but that’s different

3. Gabby’s love for me doesn’t change if I have a bad day or the best day. When I’m depressed or sick, she somehow knows how to show me more love, not less.

4. Gabby’s love for me is not conditional upon my relationship with my family, friends or potential partner. She doesn’t process jealousy. When other people are around, she asks from attention from them too lol

These are just a few examples of unconditional love. This is the type of partner I want to find. And the type of partner I hope to be to someone. To understand, validate and love without judgement when situations change and people grow and progress.
