Anyone that implies that you should only do digital painting to get popular is wholefully ignorant. You should draw what you want & how you want.

Especially if they praise your art style, then backhand slap you with "oh your painting is good"

Their "good" = "better"

(Thread)
Being stuck in the middle between two art styles is a struggle, its even more of a struggle when people value specifics like cel shading and painting more than the other (usually the latter).

I& #39;ve been told those same things many times so I understand feeling angry and in pain.
Methods, art styles & the kind of art you do shouldn& #39;t be valued based on what is "commercially" acceptable for you to "fit in" or get popular. It shouldn& #39;t also be seen as "better" because everyone, no matter what, puts in effort to their art regardless of what it is.
If someone tells you: "you should draw fanart so you can gain followers quickly, and then you can get hired by a studio if you& #39;re popular enough !! Its a trend going on!"

Please don& #39;t treat it like its the only way , of you find it doesn& #39;t work for you then don& #39;t do it.
It is also another thing I& #39;ve heard so many times over the years, but honestly that& #39;s not how reality works. Of it worked for everyone, then everyone would be getting jobs left & right.

Find what works best for you, people who only give that advice don& #39;t understand the struggle
I felt like I needed to write this thread because I was aggravated and reminded, receiving that advice recently which makes me angry. It makes me mad bc its narrow minded & lacks consideration that not everyone can work in that way.
I hope everyone that reads this can relate as well. Thanks for reading my ramblings. Its something I& #39;m very passionate about. I& #39;m against the mindset of people who don& #39;t have struggle & think their advice is sound.
