Being able to perform in a particular position or role for a game or two does not mean it is your position or role. Rooney was superb as a LW in big UCL games but was never not a no. 10. Likewise, Donny is a no. 10 despite the fact he can perform as a no. 8 at times.

Tonight, there has been a lot of confirmation bias for those who believe Donny is a no. 8 yet he was the no. 10 behind Tadic in that superb Ajax team with Frenkie as the no. 8 in the pivot.

You have one of the best ball receivers in world football who also happens to be one of the most spatially aware players in the world and yet fans want him to play in a pivot. It's like telling Messi to play as a LW. He *can* do it but it's tactically deficient.

Also, fans are acting as if both Donny and Fred didn't leave ~10 metres of space behind them in almost every IBFK possession-based attack. It allowed Višća and Ba to find pockets from either side. In the first game vs IBFK Donny was positionally suspect, too. Don't sugarcoat.

Fans should not expect both Donny and Bruno to start together except that Donny will either be at LM or RM. He won't play in a pivot against better opposition barring exceptional circumstances.

Fans need to accept this before they get upset for no reason when it doesn't happen.
