GLOSSARY:
Sexuality: A socially constructed identity that is linked to the way someone desires or engages in sex.
Stereotypes: Overly simplified characteristics of a social group or culture.
Media: Communication through the medium of technology. Media is very significant in spreading cultural norms.
Queer: An umbrella term used for non-straight and non-cis communities.
NOTE: The word queer was a homophobic slur for a long time. Now it's a very helpful and inclusive term for many, but for some it's a painful reminder of past trauma. Always respect people's wishes when it comes to using the word, especially with older members of the community.
Taboo: An act or behavior seen as so forbidden that doing it causes social (Cultural Taboo) and/or supernatural (Religious Taboo) consequences.
Stigma: A behavior, attribute, or reputation seen as socially discrediting.
