I’m not doing a phd to just do all the ‘right things’ and get a job in academia and keep my head down and churn out papers to keep my job in a system that I know is broken, harsh, and oppressive, especially to already marginalized people.

I’m doing a phd to hone my skills in teaching and research, find a community of people who share similar views and goals, and ultimately to use these skills and mobilize the community to build anew an ethical and anti-oppressive educational structure.

2/
I have no aspirations of tenure or climbing the ladder. but I want to share what I know and learn with other people in an environment that prioritizes cooperation (and not competition), exploration (and not stagnation), and ethics (and not exploitation).

I don’t have all the answers, but I know it’s gonna happen — because the alternative is this unsustainable, crumbling system we have now, and I know there are enough people hungry for a meaningful change, a revolution in how we produce and share knowledge.
