Just to back up what @mcmanusdavid & @WayneMc13Dub11 have said in recent days. Greyhound racing is not a cruel sport, in fact the love and affection showered on the dogs is truly heart warming. They are athletes but also pets.
Contrary to what has been reported by those opposed to the sport over many years, they are not treated badly. Like any athlete, they need to be looked after, nurtured and given the best of care to perform at their best.
And the idea that those in the sport are only involved for the money is also laughable. Very few hit the 'jackpot' so to speak. Their involvement is down to their love of the sport and the greyhound. The recent attacks on the sport and those involved are unmerited.
If you are in any doubt, I suggest you seek out a trainer, breeder or owner, spend time in their company and listen to how they speak about their dogs. If you get the chance to visit a kennel, take the opportunity. You will be amazed. Greyhound folk love their dogs and it shows.
