I'm listening to public comment for the county supervisor meeting right now and so many restaurant owners and elected officials are calling in.

Some of them are arguing that curfews are more effective than outdoor dining closures. But they're not. https://twitter.com/Curbed/status/1331239885999665154
So now we have elected officials promoting curfews as a "solution," which erodes trust in public health.

Meanwhile, the people who are most adversely impacted by curfews—whose livelihood has now been criminalized—have once again been completely ignored. https://twitter.com/Samanta_Helou/status/1330634390414626817
Unreal.

Right now at this moment we have motions being simultaneously introduced in both LA City Council ( @MRodCD7) and LA County Board of Supervisors ( @kathrynbarger) to ignore public health guidance and keep outdoor dining open.
County health officials including Dr. Ferrer just gave gut-wrenching testimony on LA's dire situation, carefully explaining how dining restrictions would reduce transmission rates.

They recommend moving to takeout only for three weeks as part of a modified stay-at-home order.
Throughout the restaurant testimony, @kathrynbarger and @SupJaniceHahn kept saying things like "there's no data" and "I don't see the science."

Always good to know which of your elected officials are actively trying to undermine the public health department during a pandemic.
At one point, even after public health officials explained how eating with other people increases transmission risk, @kathrynbarger called closing outdoor dining "arbitrary and punitive."

You know what's really arbitrary and punitive? The curfew that we put in place last week.
