Sixers Nation's concern about the need to acquire a "closer" feels like Jordan Originalism. Joel Embiid was 7th in the NBA in 4th quarter points, with 7th-highest usage rate and a TS% of 60.7 (higher than LBJ, Kawhi, Luka, Jimmy, etc)
Like, if late game iso-ball is your kink (no shaming), you're not finding someone better at it than Embiid anyway
According to http://NBA.com 's "Clutch" stats, Embiid was 2nd among all qualifying players in points per game and had a TS of 71.9%, which completely blows every other high usage player out of the water
Joel's assist-to-turnover isn't what you'd like, but he was literally the best in the entire NBA at clutch scoring last season. But sure, give the ball to Alec Burks and get out of the way
embiid can obviously improve at finding open teammates when the defense converges, but look at tobias and j-rich. it's almost as if they're being puppeteered by a little green hand
same game. none of the four celtics tangibly alter jo's shot (a missed 12-foot hook) but the idea that a guy can attract this much attention from a top 5 defense and not be an effective crunchtime weapon is bizarre
Sorry, just noticed that Embiid scored 43.2 points per 36 minutes in the clutch last season, with a FG of 53%, 3PT of 46% ,and a FT of 88%. Is that...good
stats: joel is the best clutch scorer in the NBA by a huge margin

lord gameswatcher: yes but what about that play from two years ago that i didn't like
