Today I turn 28 years old.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me their birthday wishes!

And specially to our Twitter corner for making this world a better place.

To celebrate,

Here are 28 business lessons I’ve learned in 28 years.

//Birthday Thread//

Enjoy:
1) Find a network of winners

You can't achieve your dreams on your own.

You need people that will help you when you're down,

And celebrate you when you're up.

Rule of thumb:

If your network wants you to win, you'll win.
2) Trust yourself

Your gut knows more about life than you do.

If something feels right, go for it.

If something doesn't, it's for a reason.

"Trust thyself, every heart vibrates to that iron string."

-Emerson
3) Ask more questions

People don't ask questions because they're afraid of looking stupid.

Nonsense.

If you want something, get to the bottom of it.

We don't need more people following orders.

We need more people questioning them.
4) Double down on what works

I get results for my clients because I learned to say no.

-> No to doing ads
-> No to doing web design
-> No to doing SEO

We focused on email only because that's what we're good at.

Results?

$50 Million in email attributable revenue.
5) Trust the process

You'll be alive for decades more
You have billions of opportunities right in front of you
You'll forget about the problems you have today

If you keep trying, it's literally impossible to stay stuck.

Keep moving.
6) Choose who you work with wisely

Nothing will drain you more than the wrong partnership.

Choose people you

-> Trust
-> Want to work with
-> Can deliver

The wrong partnership can age you for years.

The right partnership can set you up for years.
7) Say no.

If you don't learn how to say no to people nobody will take you seriously.

Don't feel guilty about saying no to people who want to feed off your energy.

It's your time.

It's limited.

You choose who deserves it.
8) Money is good. But it's not all.

Money will make you happy,

To a point.

But taking good care of

-> Family
-> Self Respect
-> Love
-> Health
-> Purpose

Will make you happy forever.
9) Everything happens for a reason

You were told no because that's not where you were meant to be.

You were told yes because that's where you were supposed to be at that time.

There is no such thing as failure.

Just small lessons that will someday turn into a win.
10) Someone needs you to build a business.

You might not think you're not good enough.

This is not true.

You're good enough to bring results to people who need your help.

It's not about being the best,

It's about making a difference in someone's life.
11) Convince yourself you can.

Half the battle of success is convincing yourself you can be successful.

Imposter syndrome hits everyone.

Me, you and the people you admire.

It's how quickly we bounce back that matters.
12) Take care of your reputation like your life depends on it.

Your reputation will bring you

-> Business
-> Money
-> Referrals
-> Connections
-> Credibility

Guard it with your life.

No amount of money is worth your dignity.
13) Invest in yourself because no one else will

You are your most valuable asset.

Without what and who you know, none of this would've happened.

If you're gonna invest in something, invest in the catalyst of success:

You.
14) It's all a game

You power up
You discover new worlds
You level up
You lose
You get back up
You win
You try new challenges
You compete with new people

Don't get so caught up in metrics.

Because the game ends.
15) Don't take yourself too seriously

Often we identify with who we think we are,

Instead of who we really are:

We're 1 human,

Among 8 billion,

In a tiny Earth,

Inside an infinite universe.

Trust me,

Being wrong won't kill you.
16) Everyone has a plan until they become a dad

Becoming a father is

Challenging
Tiresome
Tough

It's also the most beautiful thing in the world and worth every second.
17) Give more than you receive

You give first, then ask second.

Give more than you receive and eventually you’ll receive more than you ask.

Most people haven't figured this out yet.
18) Promote yourself

If you don't show people what you're good at, you're never going to make any money.

So show people what you're good at.

"Those who talk should do and those who do should talk."

-Taleb
19) Follow your genuine curiosity

I started in online biz by raising awareness for Crohn's disease

Then I started a shirt company

Then college groups

Then startups

Then email marketing

If I succeeded, it was because I followed my heart and not what Forbes told me was cool.
20) If they tell you it can't be done, do it twice.

People are quick to put you down.

Why?

Because if you win, that reflects their insecurities back to them.

Good thing you live for yourself and not for them.
21) If you help people, money will come

If you want money to come to you, solve a big problem.

There are billions of big problems.

So keep an eye open,

Find one,

And solve it at scale.

Hard not to get rich this way...
22) Be kind to everyone

There really isn't anyone "below" or "above" you.

We're all humans.

Treat people like you would like to be treated.

P.S.

It's also good for business.
23) Focus on what matters. Figure out the rest when it matters.

What doesn't matter starting out:

-Logo
-LLC
-Brand Mantra

What matters starting out:

-Sales
-Consistency
-Being able to deliver

I hit 6 figures on my course before I set up an LLC.

Lesson in there...
