On the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 18, I tested positive for COVID-19. I expected a call from the Arkansas Department of Health that day. To my surprise, I didn't receive a phone call from @ADHPIO until yesterday. I then was transferred to a contact tracer. This was day five.
Last night, I received a call from a SECOND contact tracer wanting the same list of close contacts. I kindly asked that they check their system because I provided this exact information earlier that day. They told me they would check their system and call me back.
This morning, DAY SIX after testing positive, I received a THIRD call from a contact tracer. They don't have any record of my prior 30 minute phone call giving a list of all close contacts. I also confirmed with all close contacts that they have not been contacted yet.
Why do pay for contact tracers if it takes SIX days after a positive test to actually do the contact tracing? I support @AsaHutchinson but this system is failing. It also frustrates me that I have to give a list of close contacts a second time because... well I'm not sure.
I'm lucky to have a mild case. I also personally contacted all close contacts the day I received my positive test. It wasn't fun but I'd advise anyone who tests positive to do so, because if it takes six days for a contact tracer to call, there's basically no point.
